ABOUT CREID
AI governance. In your hands.
CREID is being built to help small teams make informed, practical and accountable decisions about AI—without needing an entire governance department.
Our aim is simple: make it easier to understand the risks, take meaningful action and explain the decisions that follow.
Why CREID exists
AI can affect people’s opportunities, privacy, safety and rights. The organisations building and using it need ways to recognise those impacts and take responsibility for them.
But small teams rarely have unlimited time, specialist expertise or the budget for complex governance systems. They can end up navigating important decisions through scattered documents, improvised processes and unanswered questions.
CREID is being developed to close that gap. Not by making accountability disappear into software, but by helping people exercise it.
More than another document generator
A completed assessment is not the same as a well-governed AI system.
CREID’s approach connects an understanding of the project with governance findings, practical actions, targeted learning and a record of the human decisions made along the way.
The ambition is to leave teams with more than paperwork: clearer responsibilities, better questions and stronger internal capability.
Start with the real context
Understand what the AI does, who may be affected and what is still unknown.
Turn findings into action
Connect governance issues to practical steps, named owners and evidence of progress.
Build capability as you go
Help people understand why an issue matters—not just tell them to complete a task.
Keep humans accountable
Support human judgement and document decisions. Do not pretend software can take responsibility on someone’s behalf.
Built around people—not just compliance
Legal and regulatory obligations matter. So do the harms, uncertainties and difficult choices that a checklist can miss.
CREID’s approach brings practical governance together with attention to affected people, organisational responsibilities and the limits of what is known.
The goal is not to make every project look reassuring. It is to help teams see what needs attention and decide what to do about it.
Meet the founder
Dawn McAra-Hunter
Founder, CREID | AI ethics and governance consultant and researcher
Dawn works at the intersection of AI ethics, governance and practical implementation. Her experience spans public- and private-sector consulting, work relating to Scotland’s AI strategy, research, and the design of governance frameworks, policies and workshops.
CREID grows out of that work: helping organisations move from broad principles to decisions, responsibilities and action.
Her focus is on reducing AI harm while making governance more accessible—and helping teams develop the knowledge and confidence to own it themselves.
About this prototype
CREID is currently a working prototype. It demonstrates the intended governance workflow, including project scoping, simulated assessments, action planning, learning and human decision records.
Assessments in this version are simulated. They are not live AI analysis, verified legal advice, certification or a guarantee of safety or compliance.
Use fictional or non-sensitive information when exploring the demo.
Workspace data is stored in this browser only. Clearing browser storage may remove it. No live AI service is used.
Better questions. Clearer actions. Accountable decisions.
That is what CREID is being built to support.
